Ladrilar - Vilanova Artigas
The Artigas Series, created in partnership with the Vilanova Artigas Institute, presents interpretations of Vilanova Artigas’s design universe. His work, plans, colors, structures, and geometries are translated into cement tiles to create new readings for the present day. The Anhembi, Triângulos, and CECAP series, designed by Acauã Novais, explore the rhythms, forms, and hues found in the architect’s diverse body of work, a vocabulary that spans public buildings, sports facilities, and private residences. By bringing these interpretations together, the Artigas Series bridges past and present: it transforms architecture into surfaces and keeps the architect’s language alive through Ladrilar’s artisanal craftsmanship.
The CECAP model pays tribute to the housing complexes designed by architect Vilanova Artigas, such as the iconic CECAP in Guarulhos. Inspired by the geometric compositions of São Paulo’s Brutalist architecture, the tile translates the strength of structural forms and the graphic simplicity of Artigas’s legacy into a textured relief. It is a piece that updates this visual language for contemporary interiors, bringing presence, materiality, and meaning.
Inspired by the 'Casa dos Triângulos', a 1960s project by Vilanova Artigas, the Triângulos model translates the striking geometry of the roof into a modular cement tile surface. The design recaptures this icon of Brazilian architecture on a new scale—tactile, graphic, and handcrafted.
The piece brings the modernist architect’s language to the cement tile, reinterpreted through new perspectives and transformed into a surface. The geometry unfolds into various layouts, exploring rhythm and repetition in bold, graphic compositions.
